Belle Epoque Beauty College Adopts Rider-Friendly L-Acoustics Kiva II Professional Sound System

The Belle Epoque Beauty College, a 25-year-old institution located in the heart of Tokyo’s trendsetting Harajuku district, operates not just as a school but as a dynamic professional event space. Its multi-purpose hall is routinely used for classroom instruction, student competitions, and—crucially—high-profile entertainment productions, including fashion shows, idol events, and influencer productions. Students gain essential, hands-on experience by performing hair and makeup for these professional guests, positioning the college at the intersection of beauty and entertainment. This unique operational model demands technology that mirrors the standards of the professional world its graduates aspire to enter.

The Challenge

The college’s core mission is to attract the most fashionable, trend-conscious students and place graduates in prestigious domestic and international fashion and beauty brands. To achieve this, the event hall’s audio system needed to keep pace with the rapidly evolving demands of the entertainment industry. While the existing equipment was sufficient for basic live audio playback, it lacked the necessary clarity and quality to handle the huge variety of sound sources and tones now commonly used in modern idol and fashion events. The college recognized that to attract higher-profile entertainment partnerships and provide truly industry-standard training, a significant audio upgrade was required—specifically, one that utilized rider-friendly equipment trusted by touring professionals across Japan.

The Solution

To meet this dual challenge of educational excellence and professional readiness, Belle Epoque chose the L-Acoustics K Series, selecting the Kiva II professional sound system. The choice was strategic, driven by the system’s reputation for scalability, flexibility, and its status as a rider-friendly solution recognized by production teams nationwide. Sound Office Co., Ltd., led by President Hiroshi Sudo, designed and installed the new system. The design centered on a main left/right configuration, ensuring high sonic clarity and operational reliability critical for a venue hosting professional-level performances, central to the educational curriculum. This modular approach allows students to learn on equipment they will encounter in major entertainment productions, reinforcing the college’s commitment to real-world training.

The Result

The installation of the L-Acoustics Kiva II system has been overwhelmingly successful, positioning the college to meet the high demands of the entertainment industry and reinforcing its reputation as Japan’s most trend-conscious beauty education institution. The enhanced audio capabilities immediately validated the investment during a recent fashion show-style event, where attendees were highly impressed with the sound quality. This move to industry-standard equipment directly supports the college’s goal of boosting student confidence and pride by allowing them to work alongside professionals in a high-quality production environment. By ensuring students train on the same professional gear used in major venues, Belle Epoque is cementing its place at the top of the nation’s beauty schools.

Project photos

It’s been extremely well received. It’s only been about a month since installation, and we already had a fashion show-style event with models walking the runway. Attendees were very impressed with the sound quality.
