Variable Curvature Line Source

With the proprietary DOSC waveguide, the L-Acoustics V-DOSC system was the first line array to operate coherently across the whole audible frequency range. Since 1993, this major technological innovation is at the heart of every L-Acoustics line source element, with specifically tailored DOSC waveguides for constant curvature arrays (ARCS systems) or variable curvature arrays (K systems).

Laminar Venting

All current L-Acoustics loudspeaker enclosures with low-range capacities feature laminar vents which provide high SPL while eliminating turbulence noise. This technology was implemented for the first time in 2007 in the SB28 subwoofer, and has been included in K1, K1-SB, K2, SB15m, SB18(i/m), and the X Series.

Panflex™ DSP

Panflex DSP was introduced with the K2 system in 2014. Combining L-Fins and DSP, it offers the possibility to change the horizontal directivity pattern from wide to narrow, from symmetric to asymmetric. With Panflex, a variable curvature line source can now match the complex shape of any audience geometry, both in the vertical and horizontal planes, further minimizing noise pollution.

Completing the K series line, K3 is a versatile loudspeaker satisfying all the requirements for mid-size events and venues from 1,000 to 10,000 people. Designed as a true full-range line source, K3 integrates 12” transducers to deliver large-format system performance but is dimensioned in a typical 10” compact format. With reduced subwoofer and amplification needs, K3 deployment is fast, straightforward, sustainable, and more economical.

The K3 two-way active enclosure possesses all of the hallmarks that have made K Series the reference in line array technology, including optimized mechanical design for reduced weight, laminar vents for a powerful and linear low frequency response, and time-tested effortless captive rigging. It also features L-Acoustics Panflex™ technology to offer a choice of four horizontal directivity patterns: 70° or 110° symmetrical or 90° asymmetrical on either side. With Panflex and inter-element angles ranging from 0° to 10°, K3 line source coverage can be precisely tailored to fit any audience geometry.

Ideally dimensioned to keep sightlines clear, K3 integrates easily into venues with space restrictions. It also complements the larger K1 or K2 systems for large-scale touring events, festivals, and concerts.

K3i, the install version with streamlined rigging and custom color palette, fits indoor and outdoor events calling for architectural discretion.

“Our design team created a dual-12-inch-based system with the form factor and price of a 10-inch design, without the inherent performance compromises of 10-inch loudspeakers. K3 offers long-throw, full-range performance in a compact, accessible package, tailor-made for small to mid-capacity events and venues that are the mainstay of most sound providers. It is a ‘no compromises’ tool, perfectly adapted to the current event landscape and, when paired with K1 and K2, is quickly and powerfully scalable for large-capacity events.”
