CHIPPING NORTON, United Kingdom, June 2023 – Nestled within the picturesque Oxfordshire countryside, Heythrop Park Warner Hotel is a stunning, Grade II* listed 18th-century estate-turned-luxury hotel, catering to discerning guests seeking luxury, relaxation, and top-notch entertainment. A member of the prestigious Warner Leisure Hotels group, Heythrop features a spa, golf course, traditional sports areas, and 440 acres of luscious parkland. It also boasts two outstanding live entertainment spaces: The Theatre for West End shows and The Late Lounge for late nights and dancing. The hotel offers all the entertainment of a night out on the town on the premises so guests can have a night out – without going out.
Setting a high bar for entertainment, Heythrop’s management team knew they needed to offer a concert-grade professional audio experience, ensuring consistent, high-quality sound for its guests and keeping noise to other hotel areas under control. Given Heythrop Park’s distinctive blend of historical significance and luxury amenities, keeping the aesthetic carefully groomed in the building was paramount while achieving rich sound quality, maximum clarity, and sensitivity.
The Heythrop team turned to Illuminate Design Ltd, an audio-visual provider specializing in hospitality, to oversee the specification of all AV elements for The Late Lounge and The Theatre. L-Acoustics Certified Provider Distributor, Audiotek, known for their L-Acoustics audio designs in high-end hospitality and live music spaces like Las Vegas’ Wet Republic and worldwide Omnia clubs, responded to Illuminate’s audio tender. Their proposal was a system based around the flexible, user-friendly L-Acoustics A Series. Heythrop chose A Series for its ability to seamlessly blend into the elegant venue, minimize noise pollution, and its ease of use, which allows visiting production staff to operate it effortlessly.
Audiotek used L-Acoustics Soundvision modeling software to create a custom solution with precise speaker placement, ensuring an engaging audio experience for guests while maintaining the historical integrity and aesthetic appeal of the venue. Each space was precisely modeled to create a design that would scrupulously manage noise spill to protect those sleeping quietly above a late-night event space. “We chose L-Acoustics A Series for its control in both the vertical and horizontal planes and its unparalleled size-to-volume ratio,” explains Christopher Kmiec, UK Director at Audiotek. “We knew we’d get L-Acoustics concert-grade sound with consistent and exceptional audio quality throughout.”
The sound system designed by Audiotek for the Late Lounge consisted of left/right hangs of three A10i in a mix of Wide and Focus models. Four companion KS21i subwoofers are flush-mounted under the stage. One X8 coaxial enclosure is used for center-fill while two further X8 are used for side-fill, and two X12 provide delay fill. The system is powered by five LA4X amplified controllers. In the Theatre, the left/right system includes four A10i Focus per side with four KS21i subwoofers flown beside each array. One X8 is used for center-fill, while four X12 are on hand for stage monitoring. Four LA4X amplified controllers power the entire system, while one extra LA4X is on hand for the stage monitors.
