Batangas Province Events Center: A New Audio Benchmark for Philippine Sports
The Batangas Province Events Center (BPEC), hailed as the province’s “new crown jewel” by Governor Dodo Mandanas, is a state-of-the-art, 6,000-capacity indoor arena located within the Provincial Sports Complex in Batangas City, Philippines. Unveiled in March 2025, this multi-purpose facility symbolizes progress, offering fully air-conditioned spaces, VIP lounges, retractable seating, and a central LED display. Designed to host everything from high-energy basketball games and live concerts to conferences and community events, the BPEC has already made history as the very first live sporting venue in the Philippines to feature a fully integrated L-Acoustics professional sound system.
The Challenge
As a multi-purpose indoor arena, the BPEC demanded a singular audio system with unparalleled versatility and flexibility to handle its diverse programming. The system needed to deliver pristine clarity for in-game announcements and spoken word during conferences, while also providing the dynamic range and sonic impact required for high-energy music playback during sporting events and large-scale concert experiences. Additionally, the venue’s unique architecture posed significant installation and acoustic obstacles, including tubular air-conditioning ducts that restricted speaker rigging points and highly reflective interior surfaces that threatened to compromise overall sound quality and intelligibility.
The Solution
L-Acoustics Certified Provider Distributor, Metatech Solutions and Systems Corporation (Meta-Tech), was entrusted with designing the system. To overcome the venue’s challenges and secure the project, Meta-Tech engineers leveraged L-Acoustics’ powerful Soundvision 3D-modeling software. This software allowed the team to create a precise acoustic blueprint and run data-driven simulations, proving the effectiveness of the proposed L-Acoustics A Series system design across all seating and event configurations. This comprehensive technical presentation was instrumental in the competitive selection process. The final design, which included a resilient AES67 audio protocol infrastructure, was subsequently validated by L-Acoustics APAC Application Engineers to ensure world-class performance.
The Result
The installation of the L-Acoustics A Series system successfully positioned the BPEC as a premier, high-standard venue in the Philippines. The final deployment uses a clever dual-configuration design to seamlessly meet all event needs. For sporting events, four hangs are strategically flown to provide consistent 360-degree coverage of the entire arena. For live concerts and entertainment, a separate front-of-house (FOH) system, consisting of left/right arrays and a central subwoofer cluster, is deployed from trusses that can be lowered during the event and raised for unobstructed viewing during sports. This advanced, multi-configuration setup ensures a powerful, consistent, and impactful audio experience for every attendee, making the BPEC a true benchmark for future facility modernizations nationwide.
