KUDO - Large Format WST® Line Source The KUDO system is a 3-way, quad-amplified design and is equipped with two 12” LF transducersmounted in a bass-reflex enclosure, four 5” high efficiency MF transducers, and two 1.75” HF diaphragm compression drivers coupled to individual DOSC® waveguides. The cabinet incorporates the K-LOUVER® Modular Directivity Technology (Patent pending) allowing mechanical adjustment of the MF/HF directivity with 4 possible settings in the plane perpendicular to the DOSC® waveguides. The alliance of coplanar symmetry and DOSC® waveguides allows KUDO to fulfill the 5 WST® criteria. The KUDO enclosure is made of first grade Baltic birch plywood to ensure maximum acoustical and mechanical integrity. The four-point rigging system is entirely captive and almost invisible when recessed into the cabinet. It allows flying up to 21 KUDO enclosures in a variable-curvature vertical line source array with an inter-element flexibility from 0° to 10°. The rigging system has also been designed to configure KUDO as a horizontal constant-curvature line source array with fixed 10°inter-element angles. The KUDO system is driven by the dedicated LA8 amplified controller which ensures active system linearization, intelligent transducer protection, and optimization for two operating modes:
Both modes offer three specific presets to optimize the KUDO tonal balance according to the K-LOUVER® settings (50°, 80° or 110°). The performance of KUDO depends on the choice of electronic preset and physical configuration. |

L-ACOUSTICS® pioneered the field of modern line source array as early as 1993 with the introduction of Wavefront Sculpture Technology on the legendary V-DOSC® system. At the heart of Wavefront Sculpture Technology is the internationally-patented DOSC® waveguide, which morphs the spherical wavefront of the HF driver into a cylindrical, isophasic wave. |
|
|
Any line source featuring L-ACOUSTICS® elements respects the coplanar symmetry and all WST® criteria on the entire sonic spectrum. This allows an exceptionally coherent sonic signature in very long throw applications, beyond the limits of other systems. L-ACOUSTICS® has been designing reference line array systems for more than 15 years. In addition to the WST® technology, the KUDO® features the K-LOUVER Modular Directivity Technology, offering far more flexibility than any other arena or theatre system. This combination of technologies generates eight directivity modes in both the horizontal and vertical planes and allows KUDO® to fit many applications in terms of audience, geometry and content. |

Brett Dicus |
"We are still talking about what a great audio experience we had in Brazil last November. It was by far our best experience in many years. We were very happy with the LOUDNESS’ L-ACOUSTICS K1 and KUDO systems throughout the venues. Loudness’ experience was very helpful and appreciated" |

| Sami Ahonen Sound Engineer Old Student House |
"KUDO is one of the few systems in the world which is capable of adjusting the width coverage. Needless to say, with KUDO it was possible to cut down the unwanted reverberation and problems caused by it" | ![]() |
| Jamie Pollock System Engineer Firehouse |
“The flexibility of KUDO was what impressed me for this type of tour. Some of the venues we played were quite small while others, like The Greek Theatre in Berkeley, were larger with 8,000 seats and 180 degrees of seating. With all of these different environments and configurations, I was constantly changing the enclosures’ K-Louver settings between 110 and 80 degrees” | ![]() |

| Spencer Beard Operations Director SSE |
"KUDO ’s a great mid-sized box and we knew that when K1 came out it would complement the new system as side-hangs, infills and delays, giving us flexibility and maximum utilisation" | ![]() |
| Huw Richards FOH Engineer Maximo Park |
"KUDO’s an incredibly powerful system for its size. It’s a punky show so we need a system which can throw out and provide plenty of headroom" | ![]() |
| Sherif El Barbari Freelance System Engineer |
"With the addition of the new KUDO 25Hz preset, not only the available resources of the system are well optimized, but an already very flexible system has become an even more powerful one and can easily be, what I would consider, a top contender for touring applications. I had the chance to test the new preset recently for a couple of Radiohead outdoor shows and was very impressed with the results" | ![]() |
| Andrea Taglia Sound Designer Andreas Bocelli Tour 2008 |
"Another benefit of KUDO was that that its small footprint preserved sightlines, while its easy captive rigging system allowed the full system to be rigged in a few hours, leaving plenty of time to focus, trim, align and EQ the day before the show. This meant that show days were relaxed and focused on mixing" | ![]() |
| Andrey Akhromeev Chief system engineer Rock Over The Volga Festival (2009) |
"The crowd was huge and in high spirits, with about 120,000 visitors. I must say I was very impressed by the bottom end the KUDO system achieved" | ![]() |
| Serge Weber Technical Director DSE |
"For the Paris Air Show, with some of the clusters requiring to cover over 100m. With the KUDO system the SPL reached an incredible level of precision, providing excellent sound coverage over the audience area, and we had an excellent response to the system" | ![]() |
| Wolfango de Amicis Director Agora |
"Vittorio de Amicis, my brother, Daniele Tramontani, L-ACOUSTICS CVE, and myself have been pleased by the sound quality that KUDO - LA8 deliver, and impressed by the LA8 presets" | ![]() |
| Vaidotas Motuzas Sales Director MEX PRO |
"Overally, I have been impressed by the bottom end we achieved with the whole system. Most of the indoor or outdoor arenas were large with an average of 10 000 people. KUDO was able to deliver and give the coverage we needed. Kevin Pruce, the Sound Engineer from Björk, told us how impressed he was with the KUDO - LA8 amps, he told us that it was one of the best shows during this world tour“ | ![]() |
| Gabriele Monducci Owner Imola Audio Scene |
"With the increase of our L-ACOUSTICS KUDO / LA-RAK inventory, we are excited to be part of the “K” Standard of the L-ACOUSTICS Rental Network. This platform brings added flexibility to us and increases synergy between us and other K Rental Network Agents. 2009 has been a good year already and we are looking forward to an even more success in 2010 thanks to this investment” | ![]() |
| Pablo Jimenez Loyzaga Production Manager Twim Cam Audio |
"Our big festivals requiring large L-ACOUSTICS systems are only possible thanks to the L-ACOUSTICS Rental Network and the systems we can rent" | ![]() |
| Andrea Taglia Sound Designer Andrea Bocelli Tour in Asia 2010 |
“Using L-ACOUSTICS’ proprietary Soundvision prediction software, KUDO proved to be the best solution for uniform coverage of the large arena, thanks to the K- LOUVER variable directivity design. This helped to cover the closest part of the side balconies thanks to being able to set the K-LOUVER inside the speakers at a 55° angle, while still being able to concentrate enough energy to the far field thanks to the 25° option." | ![]() |
