L‑Acoustics Enhances Decision‑Making Spaces at China National Coal Group Headquarters
China National Coal Group Corporation is one of China’s largest state‑owned energy enterprises, overseeing more than 70 coal mines, 40 power plants, and a workforce of more than 120,000 employees across multiple provinces. When executives from China National Coal Group Corporation visited a partner facility in Dalian, an existing L-Acoustics installation immediately caught their attention. The Dalian system delivered pristine vocal clarity alongside architectural elegance, establishing a new benchmark for corporate communications. Inspired by this experience, the state energy giant decided to upgrade the boardroom in its own Beijing headquarters to match that exacting standard.
The Challenge
China Coal’s headquarters boardroom serves as mission control for one of the nation’s critical energy enterprises, operating as a central hub for more than 70 coal mines, 40 power plants, and 120,000 employees. The space handles high-stakes remote collaboration with global partners and multimedia presentations to key stakeholders, making flawless audio intelligibility a strict operational necessity. The existing communications system fell short of these demands. The organization needed a solution that met international acoustic standards, delivered crystal-clear speech during fast-paced executive meetings, and integrated seamlessly with the highly reflective, beige marble interior.
The Solution
To address these hurdles, China Coal engaged L-Acoustics Certified Partner Rightway Audio Consultants. The integration team selected the L-Acoustics S Series, recognizing that its line source precision offered the ideal answer for a space where audio performance cannot be compromised and the visual footprint must be minimized. Rightway deployed Soundvision 3D modeling software to simulate acoustic coverage across every seat, eliminating guesswork to optimize the balance between speech clarity and full-range fidelity. The final design relies on Syva’s colinear source technology and distinctive J-curved driver arrangement, producing a tightly controlled 140° × 26° dispersion pattern that maximizes horizontal coverage while mitigating ceiling and floor reflections.
The resulting system features two Syva enclosures flanking the room, customized in white to complement the architecture, paired with a single SB10i subwoofer for extended low-frequency response. Four streamlined Soka loudspeakers serve as rear-fill and fixed-stage monitors, with the entire configuration driven by LA4X amplified controllers.
The Result
Post-installation measurements confirmed the Soundvision predictions, delivering uniform sound pressure levels across all seating positions. The boardroom now boasts pristine vocal intelligibility for video collaboration and an extended dynamic range for multimedia playback. For corporate decision-makers, the upgraded system represents an infrastructure investment that perfectly matches the scale and professionalism of a leading global energy enterprise.

Many people associate L-Acoustics exclusively with large-scale concert sound, but the brand’s engineering excellence translates directly to high-end permanent installations, particularly in conference environments where speech intelligibility, design aesthetics, and reliability are non-negotiable.
