The 1,100-seat Maeda Hall features a pipe organ and ideal 2.6-second reverberation time for classical performances. To accommodate evolving program needs for contemporary cross-genre collaborations, the hall was upgraded from its previous point source system to a mobile L\/R ground stack solution. Each side consists of one L-Acoustics A10 Wide<\/a> and two A10 Focus<\/a> boxes mounted on two KS21<\/a> subwoofers, all driven by two LA4X<\/a> amplified controllers. The system’s compact, lightweight design was specifically chosen to facilitate hands-on student training in setup, tuning, and operation \u2013 particularly beneficial for the college’s predominantly female student body (74%). Initial concerns that a L\/R system would produce hollow sound due to the space’s width were dispelled when Soundvision models demonstrated that an LCR configuration could achieve optimal SPL coverage throughout. An installation of three L\/C\/R X12 enclosures flown across the front of the stage is complemented by sixteen further X12<\/a> speakers as in-fill and stage monitoring, while four SB18<\/a> subwoofers deliver precise low-end definition. The entire professional sound system is powered by five LA4X<\/a> amplified controllers. “This permanent installation allows production sets to remain in place, enabling students to rehearse consistently in an optimized performance environment that mirrors professional and touring standards,” notes Kusakabe<\/p>\n\n\n\n Big Mouth<\/strong> \u2014 This 180-seat music studio space serves as the college’s front-facing venue for hosting industry professionals, media personnel, and public events. Featuring distinctive theatre-style seating, Big Mouth was initially conceived for musical theatre and live contemporary performances across rock, pop, and jazz genres, and has evolved to become the go-to location for external seminars and faculty presentations. The recent audio upgrade, which replaced an aging point source system, features an L\/R ground stacked configuration of three L-Acoustics A15 Focus<\/a> atop two KS21 subwoofers per side, chosen for their compact footprint and widespread industry adoption.
