Prestigious Dutch Venue Enhances Versatility with State-of-the-Art Professional Sound System, installed by Fairlight<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ARNHEM, Netherlands – October 2024<\/strong> – Musis Arnhem, one of the Netherlands’ oldest and most prestigious concert halls, has completed a major audio upgrade to meet the evolving needs of its diverse programming. The venue, hosting over 100 concerts annually across various genres, has installed an L-Acoustics L Series loudspeaker system in the Parkzaal, marking a significant leap in its sound reinforcement capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L-Acoustics Certified Partner Fairlight spearheaded the design and implementation of the new system. The project presented unique challenges, including the need to accommodate the Parkzaal’s diverse range of events, and its distinctive 16 by 11-metre glass back wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rider-friendly Professional Sound System Exceeds Expectations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rene van der Linden of Fairlight comments “L-Acoustics, with their reputation for superior sound quality and frequent appearance on technical riders, was the clear choice for Musis Arnhem, which primarily hosts visiting productions. When we demonstrated the L Series system in the Parkzaal, it quickly became evident that it not only met but exceeded all their sound requirements. It’s the system that the industry demands and expects.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The installation in the 2,000-capacity Parkzaal demanded a versatile sound system capable of delivering exceptional quality across all performance types, from classical to contemporary. Key challenges included achieving high sound pressure levels with uniformity across all listener positions while maintaining a low noise floor for classical concerts and corporate events. The system needed to adapt to the hall’s adjustable acoustics, including reflective oak walls and 400 sound-absorbing panels, while minimising visual impact in the architecturally striking venue. Additionally, the team had to address the complex acoustic environment created by the balcony design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Unique Audio Solution to Unique Audio Challenges<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project presented unique challenges, including the need to accommodate the Parkzaal’s adjustable acoustics, such as reflective uneven oak walls for classical concerts, 400 sound-absorbing panels for amplified production, and its distinctive glass wall overlooking the Musis park. The system had to deliver high sound pressure levels with uniformity across all listener positions while maintaining a low noise floor for classical concerts and corporate events. Compact loudspeakers were necessary to minimise visual impact in the architecturally striking venue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team utilised L-Acoustics Soundvision software to overcome these challenges during the design process. This powerful tool allowed them to test and refine various configurations virtually, ensuring optimal coverage and performance before the physical installation began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The system design includes a main PA of one L2<\/a> and one L2D<\/a> per side, plus 4 KS21<\/a> per side, complemented by eight KS21 subwoofers for low-end reinforcement. Four A10 Wide<\/a> speakers serve as in-fills, with three 5XT<\/a> providing front-fill coverage. The system is powered by four LA7.16i<\/a>, and two LA12X<\/a> and LA2Xi<\/a> amplified controllers, with processing handled by the P1<\/a> processor and networked via LS10<\/a> Milan-AVB switches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many have noted the improved clarity and consistency of sound throughout the venue, regardless of seating position. The L2 system’s ability to adapt to different acoustic settings within the Parkzaal has been particularly praised, ensuring an optimal listening experience for every type of performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
