Vision One installs K2 concert sound system in Thai capital\u2019s new multi-purpose entertainment district.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

BANGKOK, Thailand \u2013 March 2024 \u2013<\/strong> Designed to elevate the live sound experience in Southeast Asia, the recently unveiled UOB LIVE venue is the star attraction of a sprawling, multi-purpose entertainment complex in the Thai capital\u2019s Sukhumvit district. Developed in partnership with Thai retail operator The Mall Group, and the global entertainment company AEG, the 6,000-cap UOB LIVE officially opened in February on the sixth floor of the EMSPHERE retail and entertainment destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elevating the event experience<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our goal is to become the leading live entertainment destination in Southeast Asia,\u201d <\/em>asserts Craig Grossarth, General Manager, UOB LIVE. \u201cStrong attention was placed on the audio system\u2019s specifications and the venue\u2019s acoustic performance,\u201d Craig continues. \u201cIt was a very high priority from AEG and The Mall Group.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UOB LIVE is designed to host various events, with movable staging and retractable audience seating that can also accommodate standing-only live sound music concerts, intimate theatre productions, banquets, and exhibitions within the 4,464 square-metre hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Craig and his team looked to leading local acoustics consultant Atkrist Co., Ltd to attain the \u201cbest-sounding venue in Southeast Asia\u201d goal. The tender process led to choosing the local L-Acoustics Certified Provider, Vision One, to install an L-Acoustics professional sound system that would empower outstanding entertainment experiences and live sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A concert audio system that\u2019s \u201ca very powerful tool.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Craig remarks, \u201cOne of the key things we heard about the L-Acoustics system was the full range across different types of music. From opera to heavy rock and dance music – the sound quality across diverse music genres is fantastic.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was important to AEG because UOB LIVE\u2019s equipment quality\u2014from truss to lights, stage to rigging, and especially the quality of the concert sound system\u2014is a major selling point to promoters and organizers. \u201cWe already have the best equipment, so they don’t need to bring it in,\u201d explains Craig. \u201cIt’s a very powerful tool.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vision One designed a system for the venue based on the artist-requested L-Acoustics K2<\/a>.  \u201cWithin the K Series range of long-throw speakers, K2 was the perfect fit for UOB LIVE,\u201d says Tanapat \u2018Tony\u2019 Mongkolkosol, Chief Operating Officer at Vision One. Tony and his team worked with Alvin Koh and Chung Wah Khiew from the L-Acoustics APAC application team to design a main L\/R system of 12 L-Acoustics K2 with three Kara II<\/a> down per side, with eight KS28<\/a> subwoofers flown behind each array. Three A10 Focus per side deliver front-fill, while a delay system consists of three A15i Focus<\/a> per side. The main system is driven by 15 LA12X<\/a> amplified controllers, running through an L-Acoustics P1 processor<\/a> via Milan-AVB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artists onstage hear themselves through 12 X15 HiQ<\/a> stage monitors, with in-fill from four A15 Focus<\/a>, driven by four LA12X and two LA4X<\/a> amplified controllers. Elsewhere, the private VIP Lounge has 12 L-Acoustics X8<\/a> coaxial speakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diverse event configurations, consistent live sound clarity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once installed, the team at Vision One tested and commissioned the system, and their involvement with the venue is ongoing, with a technical team on hand to reconfigure audio for the mobile stage, which adapts to various events. \u201cTony and the team at Vision One have been excellent to work with. The professionalism and knowledge they delivered installing and operating the L-Acoustics system were valuable assets for a large-scale concert venue project,\u201d praises Craig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThroughout the commissioning process, everybody at UOB Live has been impressed by the system\u2019s pristine sound quality,\u201d says Craig. Now open to the public, UOB LIVE is set to be Bangkok\u2019s go-to venue for entertainment experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
