KYIV, Ukraine – December 2025\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 Ukraine\u2019s inaugural VYRII Festival took place in August 2025, fusing Ukrainian culture and mythology with modern electronic and traditional music, theatre and visual art. Hailed as \u201cUkraine\u2019s Burning Man\u201d, the event used ethnofuturism as its guiding theme and encouraged total freedom of expression. Audiences of every age enjoyed a wide-ranging line-up that featured world-renowned artists like Mercury Prize-winner Benjamin Clementine and Ukrainian icons Jamala and DakhaBrakha. For those in attendance, this beautifully curated, expressive festival offered a welcome reprieve from the challenges imposed by the ongoing war.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delivering exceptional audio quality at VYRII required high-quality equipment and technical expertise. Franz Audio, one of Ukraine\u2019s leading technical production companies, has been collaborating with the VYRII team for over five years, and was a natural choice when it came to delivering the festival\u2019s audio infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

K3, Kara and V-DOSC selected to meet festival brief<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Franz Audio\u2019s mission was to deliver even sound coverage across the entire site so attendees could enjoy a comfortable experience whether they were listening to the powerful low-end of the festival\u2019s electronic acts or the nuanced acoustic detail of its traditional performers. Because the festival featured two stages that operated simultaneously, Franz Audio also needed to avoid interference, allowing audience members to move from one stage to the other without any bleed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final configuration Franz Audio opted to use was dependent on the availability of equipment. K3 and Kara were ideally suited for the electronic stage design and deployment, while a legacy V-DOSC system was sourced for the main stage. Much of Ukraine’s audio inventory has been destroyed in the war, or moved abroad for protection. Adapting to what was available ensured that VYRII was able to proceed without a hitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two Stages, Two Solutions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Franz Audio used Soundvision to model each stage, predict coverage patterns, and optimise speaker placement before transferring to LA Network Manager for final tuning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSoundvision greatly simplified our process,\u201d comments Director of Franz Audio, Yurii Danyliuk. \u201cIt allowed us to simulate the system\u2019s coverage accurately and ensure we were meeting our primary objective of guaranteeing consistent sound distribution.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The electronic stage featured three hangs: two clusters of six K3 over three Kara each, plus an out-fill hang of four further Kara. Six Kiva provided front-fill. Paired with SB18 and KS28 subwoofers, this configuration delivered the precise imaging and substantial low-end electronic music requires while maintaining listener comfort. The main stage deployed two hangs of 11 V-DOSC hangs by LA8 amplified controllers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The K3 system was already familiar territory for Franz Audio; it had been part of the inventory for about a year and the team had successfully deployed it on numerous projects, while V-DOSC was new to the team. \u201cOur familiarity with L-Acoustics products, our team\u2019s extensive L-Acoustics training, and the preparatory work we were able to undertake in Soundvision ultimately made the transition to V-DOSC as smooth as it could possibly have been,\u201d says Danyliuk. Although considered a classic series, V-DOSC proved to be exactly what the festival needed: a reliable, versatile and powerful system that performs excellently in large outdoor venues. \u201cV-DOSC is a legendary, time-tested solution that once again proved its \u2018immortality\u2019 under extraordinary circumstances. It was incredible to see it perform so well and integrate so seamlessly with K3 and Kara,\u201d Danyliuk continues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The K3\/Kara system used AES67 network audio protocol to provide high-quality signal transmission, flexible system configuration and precise synchronization via the PTPv2 protocol. The audio, video and lighting elements were integrated into a unified control system – critical for the electronic stage, where music synchronized tightly with visuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The installation was smooth and simple, and the team was able to set up everything on schedule despite the challenges imposed by poor weather and air raid alerts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Performance Under Pressure<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Franz Audio received enormously positive feedback from the FOH engineers and technical specialists who worked with the system during the festival, as well as audience members and artists. Many of VYRII\u2019s artists not only expressed their appreciation for the team, but also praised the crystal-clear sound for allowing them to deliver exceptional performances and fully connect with the audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have no doubt that our choice of sound system had a definitive impact on the success of the event,\u201d says Danyliuk. \u201cUltimately, we\u2019re very pleased with the festival\u2019s technical implementation\u2014even now, looking back, we wouldn\u2019t make any changes.
