Concert-Grade Sound on the High Seas<\/strong><\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

While landlocked Montana might seem an unlikely origin point for a maritime audio overhaul, the relationship between the yacht’s owner and Montana Pro Audio (MPA) was built on a foundation of pristine sound. The venue is a luxury 177-foot, 776-gross-ton superyacht designed by Delta Design Group. Seeking to keep his guests engaged with the voyage, the marine environment, and each other, the owner commissioned MPA following their successful collaboration on a private event and a previous 114-foot vessel. The goal was to outfit the superyacht with discreet, professional-level products capable of delivering a nightclub-quality audio experience across the entire ship.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Challenge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Achieving concert-grade audio in a marine environment requires equipment capable of surviving constant exposure to the elements. The installation demanded hardware built to withstand humidity, salt air, and ocean spray. Beyond the environmental factors, MPA had to navigate the tight physical constraints and structural limitations inherent to luxury yacht construction, ensuring seamless wire runs and precise penetrations without compromising the vessel’s aesthetic or structural integrity.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Solution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

MPA specified a comprehensive L-Acoustics sound system, relying on the hardware\u2019s weather-resistant IP ratings for immediate outdoor deployment. Collaborating closely with the yacht\u2019s resident engineers, MPA mapped out safe, highly integrated cable routes. To optimize the sound profile for the yacht’s intimate spaces, the team utilized specific L-Acoustics presets. This approach traded maximum volume for an extended frequency bandwidth, focusing on rich, enhanced audio fidelity rather than sheer decibel output.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Result<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Phase One successfully established a high-fidelity environment across the exterior social spaces, including the Sun, Owner\u2019s, and Main Decks. MPA executed a highly clever deployment in the lower stern’s boat garage, mounting speakers to the underside of the overhead door to create an instant “beach club” atmosphere for water activities when raised. Additionally, a deployable DJ system can plug into patch panels located throughout the decks, allowing music to be seamlessly routed to all audio zones on the vessel. Phase Two, scheduled for 2027, will bring this same acoustic precision to the yacht\u2019s interior rooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our L-Acoustics team has been genuinely helpful. They provided us with highly detailed Soundvision models showing the systems\u2019 performance in each space, giving us multiple options for different performance values.
