Variable Curvature Line Source
DOSCWith the proprietary DOSC waveguide, the L-Acoustics V-DOSC system was the first line array to operate coherently across the whole audible frequency range. Since 1993, this major technological innovation is at the heart of every L-Acoustics line source element, with specifically tailored DOSC waveguides for constant curvature arrays (ARCS systems) or variable curvature arrays (K systems).
Panflex™ DSPPanflex DSP was introduced with the K2 system in 2014. Combining L-Fins and DSP, it offers the possibility to change the horizontal directivity pattern from wide to narrow, from symmetric to asymmetric. With Panflex, a variable curvature line source can now match the complex shape of any audience geometry, both in the vertical and horizontal planes, further minimizing noise pollution.

Part of the K Series, Kara II is a modular line source system that can be deployed standalone or with its companion subwoofer SB18. Assembled
as a variable curvature line source with class-leading SPL per weight and footprint, Kara II is ideal for applications that require clarity and long throw capability such as performing arts, congregations, large corporate and special events.
Based on the Kara design, Kara II adds flexibility with PanflexTM. A single Kara II enclosure offers four horizontal directivity patterns: 70° or 110° symmetrical and 90° asymmetrical on either side. With a tighter control of the directivity, the 70° setting brings an additional 2 dB compared to the 110° setting increasing throw capability. With Panflex and inter-element angles ranging from 0° to 10°, a Kara II line source coverage can be precisely tailored to any audience geometry.
On its own Kara II can be used as a main system for vocal reinforcement and music material with light LF requirements or as a complement to large sound systems in fill and delay applications. Associated with its companion subwoofer SB18, Kara II modular system can accommodate any program material requiring bandwidth, contour and output.
“Kara has been a perpetual best-seller for a reason. Its lightweight, diminutive form factor and strong SPL make it the perfect tool for a plethora of events or permanent installs. When we introduced Panflex to the industry, our clients told us this was the only thing missing from Kara. We listened, and the new Kara II brings our medium-format line array into a new era of added directivity and improved polar stability.”
