News / Shenzhen Poly Theatre Opens With L-ACOUSTICS Systems
April 2008

SHENZHEN POLY THEATRE, which took 3 years to complete, is an architectural masterpiece and the pride of the city. It can hold all kinds of entertainment including: operas, plays, symphonies, ballets, concerts, lectures and the like.

RIGHTWAY AUDIO CONSULTANTS, L-ACOUSTICS Distributor in China, has been in charge of the installation, and the L-ACOUSTICS system consists of 14 ARCS – 4 SB218 - 8 dV-DOSC - 1 dV-SUB – 33 MTD Coaxials – 4 x 115XT HiQ – 32 x 8XT.  The whole system is driven by LA8 and LA4 amplified controllers, providing an advanced and precise system drive and protection.

Launched by the end of 2007, the centre first drew its curtain for the CCTV New Year’s Eve Concert on 31st, Dec. 2007, with a heavyweight cast from both home and abroad including Romanian soprano Angela Gheorghiu, Chinese cellist Wang Jian and pianist Li Yundi. Their music pieces reinforced by L-ACOUSTICS products offered the audience a feast for the ears.

Inside the Theatre, more than 1,500 seats on three terraces and eight balconies overlook the 1,700-square-meter central stage. The acoustic reflector that covers the stage works with the canopy and walls to provide perfect sound effects. “The sound of tearing a piece of paper on the stage can be heard anywhere in the theatre” said general manager Zeng Ruoming.  In front of the stage is an orchestra pool that can be elevated during the performance of operas and musicals. The huge movable platform and several hundred computer-controlled lamps allow for the most dazzling stage effects.

With the maturing of a well-knit local society and growing demands for entertainment and art, Shenzhen is a highly valued market for the No. 1 live performance supplier in China. Quality performances are a prerequisite for a successful theatre. With that idea in mind, the management of Poly Theatre prepared 11 shows for the first quarter of 2008. The schedule included “Tibetan Riddle” and “Dynamic Yunnan” by dancer Yang Liping, the ballets “Swan Lake” and “Notre Dame de Paris,” the musical “Butterfly,” and the Broadway blockbuster “Cats.”
