MIAMI - Visual Formula, LLC of Miami reports that it has now expanded its inventory of L-ACOUSTICS loudspeakers to 24 KUDO elements, 18 SB28 subs and 18 LA8 amplified controllers, augmented by eight 112P powered enclosures and ten 115XT HiQ wedges.
The company purchased its initial quantity of KUDO, SB28 and LA8 for its live production division nearly a year ago, at which point the rig was immediately deployed on a number of large-scale events, including a BBC Radio One live broadcast from South Beach for the Winter Music Conference and the kickoff of the global BACARDI B-LIVE tour at Bayfront Park Amphitheater.
“We flew nine KUDO per side as the main PA for B-LIVE, then actually supplemented the rig with eight V-DOSC plus three dV-DOSC per side that we rented to cover the big esplanade and gardens to the far sides,” notes Visual Formula CEO Nick Assunto. “As expected, the KUDO had terrific headroom and sounded extremely clean, but the thing that impressed me the most was the SB28. The SPL that those subs can produce is amazing! When we were setting up for this event, we put a cluster of eight SB28 in the center and then positioned ten SB218 subs on each side – so 20 in total. And we could simply not believe how much more pressure the SB28 subs were able to deliver over their predecessors.”
Assunto also points out that the SB28 wasn’t the only L-ACOUSTICS product turning heads at WMC and B-LIVE. “It never used to be very common for DJs to request a particular rig, but now some of the world’s top DJs are specifically asking for L-ACOUSTICS on their riders. For example, Tiësto, who consistently ranks as the world’s number one DJ, wants L-ACOUSTICS monitors for all his gigs. So our powered 112P coaxial monitors make guys like that very happy.”
Having spent more than 20 years in the live production business working with the likes of Shakira, Guns N’ Roses, Iron Maiden and Foreigner, as well as on productions like the annual Ultramusic Festival, Assunto knows a good thing when he hears it. “I’ve trusted L-ACOUSTICS for many years now, and am happy to be increasing my inventory. Now we’re anxiously looking forward to the opportunity to use our KUDO with some of L-ACOUSTICS’ new K1 systems in a stadium setting. That will be the ultimate level of production!”
